School-Age Programs
CASTLE's School-Age program offers a variety of program options designed to meet the needs of working parents and support the growth and development of children aged 5 - 12 years old.
Our facility is conveniently located across the street from Colchester Elementary School and is a short distance from Jack Jackter Intermediate and William J. Johnston Middle Schools.
Given our location, during the summer we are able to walk our older children to the CES & JJIS school playgrounds and around the community to visit local businesses and parks, such as Craigin Library, Mel's Downtown Creamery, Harry's Place, The Giving Garden, the Town Green and Lion's Pond.
Wide Range of Activities & Freedom of Choice
Children's choice is a large component in our school-age program. Children are able to choose what activities they participate in and where within their area of the building they choose to play. Staff are provided time to plan a variety of activities tailored to the children's interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, science experiments, building challenges, cooking and baking, and plenty of physical activity. Our Recreation Coordinator plans and runs daily outdoor group and sports games whenever the weather permits!
Staff Training & Certifications
Our staff are committed to staying current on best practices, and participate in various professional development training's throughout the year. We have all of our staff certified in First Aid and CPR, as well as mandated reporter training annually. We also provide trainings on behavior management, team building and other topics related to childcare throught the year at monthly staff meetings.

Before & After School Program
CASTLE offers a high quality Before & After School program for children aged 5 - 12 yrs old in a safe & secure environment.
Our curriculum supports the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well being of children while teaching valuable life skills and encouraging independence.
Our caring, knowledgeable and experienced staff is committed to providing each child with positive guidance and enriching experiences during those important hours before and after school. Children attending Colchester Elementary School (CES) and Jack Jackter Intermediate School (JJIS) are provided bus transportation to and from school each day. Children attending William J. Johnston Middle School have the option to walk or take a bus to and from CASTLE (bus transportation must be arranged through WJJMS directly).
Before School Benefits
Our before school program allows children an opportunity to wake up, relax and prepare for the school day ahead of them. We provide all of the same planned activities and outdoor recreational games as our after school program, with time given to catch up on unfinished homework, eat a breakfast meal that was missed at home, or simply just play and be a kid! Care is also guaranteed for any school delayed openings or snow days.
After School Features
CASTLE's after school program provides a safe, structured environment for children to decompress and socialize after a long day of classwork. Children are offered an afternoon snack once arriving from school, and are given the option to choose which activity they would like to participate in.
CASTLE offers a variety of daily activities, ranging from arts & crafts, baking/cooking, science experiments, and building & engineering projects, plus plenty of outside time in our fully enclosed rec area with our Recreation Coordinator. We also offer a quiet, designated space for homework or reading, with access to staff-monitored computers and help whenever needed!
Summer Care at CASTLE
Our comprehensive summer program is offered on a choose-your-weeks basis, with flexible hours and
part-time, 1 to 5 day options!
Camp Hours
8:00am - 4:00pm
Optional Extended Care
Early Morning: 6:30am - 8:00am
Late Afternoon: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Special activities, in-house entertainment, daily water play, organized sports games and more are planned throughout the summer to keep children active, healthy, safe and most of all having fun!
CASTLE's summer program is open to children aged
5 - 12 years old in Colchester and many surrounding towns.

Daily organized indoor & outdoor games and activities with our experienced staff members.

Frequent walking trips to the playgrounds at CES & JJIS and Lions Pond.
